How to Write a Resume

Each resume example on Lamwork shows the same job at different experience levels (entry, mid and senior), followed by sample work experience you can adapt. All examples follow Lamwork's resume standards:

  • Contact information: name, phone number, professional email and LinkedIn or portfolio; no full address.
  • Professional summary: two to three lines with your role, years of experience and key strengths.
  • Work experience: job title, company and dates, with bullet points that combine an action verb, a metric and the impact.
  • Skills: hard skills that use the exact keywords of the job description.
  • Education and projects: degree, school and year, plus relevant projects with the tools used and the outcomes.
  • Length and format: one page for up to 5 years of experience, up to two pages for 5 to 10 years; a clean font and no tables or columns, so applicant tracking systems (ATS) can read it.
  • Leave out: photo, age, gender, full address and references.

Before you send it, check for typos, keep verb tenses consistent, tailor it to the job and save it as FirstName_LastName_Resume.pdf.
