Job Summary:

• Responsible for developing civil airfield/spaceport planning, design and construction improvements, working under experienced spaceport design staff
• Regular contact with clients, design team members, contractors, and sub-consultants for ongoing planning, design and construction projects
• Participation in project meetings with the internal team and Client
• Interaction with the public and project stakeholders (including federal and state agencies)
• Development and/or review of project documents and general support of project team/tasks
• Support project managers with design documentation
• Perform field tasks, site reconnaissance, soil, air and water sampling, inspections, and construction observation.
• Prepare engineering assessment, inspection, feasibility, and design reports.
• Prepare construction and bid documents including drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
• Conduct field and office QA/QC responsibilities.
• Research as-built and existing site data and assist with report writing.
• Calculate quantities and assist in generating construction cost estimates.
• Follow established quality control procedures.

• Perform field testing of soils, concrete, and observation testing of water main, sewer mains, and manholes.

• Perform engineering, construction, and design assignments of a varied nature, requiring a solid grasp of civil engineering and the exercise of professional judgment.
• Responsible for projects of moderate complexity and may have leadership responsibility for less experienced engineers or technicians.
• Specialize in the field of civil engineering, assuming a lead role in a project segment and/or coordinating the work of groups related to assigned segments.
• Perform work with general guidance and supervision or provide support to more experienced personnel.
• Perform and direct others in the design of structures, systems and equipment items of moderate complexity.
• Direct engineers and technical support staff in the preparation of detailed drawings
• Review and check finished drawings.
• Prepare reports and conduct economic and operating feasibility studies and other studies aimed at evaluating alternative systems, equipment, materials or engineering methods.
• Conduct analyses of civil engineering problems and design deficiencies
• Recommend action to engineering management.
• Prepare proposals establishing the scope of work, man-hour requirements and schedules. 
• Prepare contract specifications and construction cost estimates.
• Review the Contractor's shop drawing submittals.
• Assist in the preparation of client progress reports.
• Coordinate field activities and perform construction monitoring.
• Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
