• Prepare and negotiate intellectual property–related transactional and licensing agreements, including trademark, copyright, and coexistence agreements, while supporting supply chain and sales contracts from an IP perspective and conducting M&A IP due diligence and integration.
• Conduct global patent clearances through proactive measures to prevent IP disputes, including infringement reviews, competitor portfolio analyses, and preparation of clearance opinions in coordination with outside counsel.
• Oversee internal and external counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, including filings with domestic and international patent offices.
• Manage an international trademark portfolio, review trademark screening searches, and develop global filing and enforcement strategies.
• Coordinate with customs authorities and international agencies on IP-related issues, including trademark registrations, communications, and enforcement filings.
• Provide IP training programs covering patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and related subjects.
• Collaborate with HR, Engineering, Sourcing, Sales, IT, and other departments to ensure effective practices for safeguarding the company’s intellectual property.
• Review technical publications and marketing materials to ensure appropriate use and protection of intellectual property.
• Partner with Litigation Counsel and business teams to manage IP disputes and litigation, including demand letters, opposition and cancellation proceedings, and domain name or copyright disputes.
• Lead the implementation of company-wide IP initiatives, policies, and procedures.
• Promote an IP-conscious culture and maintain a strong IP compliance program across the organization.
• Investigate and resolve intellectual property-related compliance issues.
