Job Summary: 

• Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, infection control, and safety standards
• In conjunction with the radiation physicists, assure the provision of high quality radiation therapy by guiding the activities of the simulator and treatment planning functions as performed by the radiation therapists
• Share responsibility with the radiation physicist for reviewing records of treatment on a continuing basis to ensure compliance with the plan and intent of the prescribed treatment course. 
• In collaboration with the Radiation Oncologists, assess treatment goals and techniques. 
• Advise Radiation Oncologists concerning implementation of difficult or unusual techniques. 
• Consult, advise and write reports in a case of improperly administered radiation
• Perform calculations and computer treatment planning verification for patients undergoing radiation therapy and assures dosage calculations performed by physics and/or technical staff are within standards. 
• Ensure that all treatment plans and/or calculations are approved by the Radiation Oncologist prior to the initiation of patient's treatment
• Discuss the patient's diagnosis and aim of radiation therapy with the Radiation Oncologists, radiation physicists and simulation technologists in an effort to obtain optimal treatment for the individual patient
• Provide direction to the simulation technologists and radiation therapists to ensure effective treatment planning and implementation of treatment. 
• Coordinate and/or assist with simulations and tumor localizations incorporating CT/MRI data as needed and preparation of patient contours for treatment planning

Job Summary: 

• Trained and become competent in all treatment planning techniques offered by London Radiotherapy Centres at Guy’s and UCH.
• Work with clinical oncologists to produce accurate and precise treatment plans by aiding localisation of treatment volumes and organs at risk.
• Explain the resulting treatment set up, such that the clinician is able to approve the finished plan
• Interact and liaise with physicists, radiographers, clinical oncologists, nursing and clerical staff in a professional manner.
• Develop new treatment or dosimetry techniques where the need arises or best practice dictates.
• Provide scientific and technical advice to consultant Radiation Oncologists and other clinical staff regarding patient treatments and imaging.
• Develop and maintain departmental protocols in close collaboration with the staff of the Radiotherapy department. 
• Ensure the department’s quality system is kept at a high standard, which meets national standards.
• Participate in the training of junior staff members or other members of department.

• Performs treatment planning of 3D, IMRT, VMAT, and SBRT plans.
• Work with physicians to explain and review plan details, then finalize the plan as agreed upon.
• Prints plan and exports to record and verify system.
