Job Summary:

• Demonstrate clinical competence in assisting during G.I. Lab procedures under the supervision of the registered nurse in delivering safe and effective care to the patient during a G.I. Lab procedure and the perioperative phase of care.
• Assist the endoscopist during the procedure.
• Clean, disinfect and sterilize endoscopes and non-disposable endoscopy equipment, instruments and supplies.
• Gather equipment, instruments and supplies for the endoscopic procedure.
• Assemble equipment, instruments and supplies to be ready for use for the endoscopy procedure.
• Check video monitors, equipment and scopes prior to the start of the procedure.
• Remove video monitors/equipment/scopes from use, label the equipment "Out of Order" if not functional and notify the charge nurse and the endoscopy nurse of the monitor equipment/scope problem.
• Maintain appropriate endoscopy supplies at PAR levels.
• Perform specific competencies as listed on the competency validation checklist(s).
• Demonstrate age-specific knowledge of human growth and development, physical examination data norms, and care of patients.
• Ensure the privacy of patients and the confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Meet mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives as listed on the Performance Management Plan.

Job Summary:

Job Summary:

• Manual cleaning of all endoscopes and associated accessories following current guidelines
• Disinfecting endoscopes using auto-disinfectant
• Documenting all daily maintenance of all machines and equipment
• Ensure tracking of each endoscope is up to date and correct for each patient
• Cleaning and high-level disinfection of all endoscopes
• Cleaning and maintenance of all drying/storage cabinets
• Ensure that the right scopes are cleaned for each procedure list and there is an adequate supply to ensure that the lists run efficiently
• Assist with the organization of general and periodic service contracts and take action accordingly
• Daily equipment checks to adhere to health and safety regulations, and organizing the repair of all defects to be dealt with promptly.
