- Ability to assist the physician and nurse before, during and after the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, handling devices used during procedures including forceps, snares, tomes, baskets and balloons under the guidance of the procedure physician.

- Certification as a GI Technical Specialist from the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) to be completed within 6 months.
- Completion of the SGNA GI Advanced Assistant program
- Ability to moderate physical strength in moving and adjusting equipment and patients.
