Job Summary:

• Provide specialized care and management of patients during pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum.
• Coordinate overall flow of patients through the Birth Center triage, intrapartum and postpartum areas to ensure sensitive and quality care delivered in a timely manner.

Job Summary:

• Provides patient care in the OB Triage unit which includes direct assessment (e.g., physical exam--including cervical exams), electronic fetal monitor interpretation, diagnosis, and implementation of a treatment plan made in consultation with the patient's obstetric care provider or the in-house obstetrician when urgent complications of pregnancy arise. 
• Collaborate with OB-GYN resident staff, the Physician Team Leader, OB-GYN faculty physician and Maternal-Fetal Medicine faculty physician of the day
• Acts as a role model of effective communication with the medical and nursing staff.
• Communicates and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to enhance appropriate, comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
• Promotes women's health by serving as a liaison between the patient, family, multidisciplinary team members and community.
• Performs limited obstetrical ultrasound to include evaluation of fetal well-being, biophysical profile, assessment of amniotic fluid volume, determination of placental location, confirmation of cardiac activity, determination of fetal lie or presentation, estimation of fetal weight
• Performs History and Physical Examinations of patients and writes admission or triage orders for patients being admitted to the Family Birth Center or being evaluated in the triage unit, in consultation with the patient's attending physician.
• Discharge planning, which includes completion of the electronic medical record, discharge orders, patient instructions, follow-up office visit coordination and discharge prescriptions.
• Facilitates transfer from the OB Triage unit to Labor and Delivery or the OR.
