Senior Acquisition Manager Job Description Template
1. About the Role
A Senior Acquisition Manager in talent acquisition owns the end-to-end hiring process for an organization, every open role, every sourcing channel, every candidate relationship from first contact through signed offer. Speed matters. When time-to-fill slips or diverse candidate slates shrink, hiring managers lose confidence and workforce plans stall. This role answers directly to HR leadership and operates with visibility across all business functions, managing external search partners, campus programs, and employment branding to keep the pipeline healthy and the hiring bar consistent.
2. Position Summary
As the Senior Acquisition Manager, you lead full-cycle recruitment operations across multiple functions and seniority levels, owning sourcing strategy, candidate pipeline development, and hiring process governance to meet workforce goals. You partner daily with HR business partners and hiring managers, with accountability spanning job advertising mix, diversity of source metrics, and candidate experience from first outreach through offer acceptance.
3. Why Join Us
Career Impact: Owning full-cycle recruitment across business and technology functions builds the stakeholder credibility and market mapping expertise that hiring leads and HR Directors draw on when entering new regions or headcount growth phases.
Business Impact: Every hire in this role directly affects the speed at which product, engineering, and commercial teams can deliver; a stalled slate or missed time-to-fill target has a measurable cost on headcount plans and revenue timelines.
Growth Opportunity: The combination of multi-function hiring scope, employment branding ownership, and exposure to talent market intelligence positions this role as a natural step toward a Head of Talent Acquisition or People Operations lead title.
4. Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle recruitment across all seniority levels and functions, from hiring intake through offer acceptance.
- Partner with hiring managers and HR business partners to define role requirements, assess sourcing options, and align on candidate evaluation criteria.
- Design and execute multi-channel sourcing strategies using job boards, social networks, referral programs, and direct outreach.
- Build and maintain candidate talent pipelines in key functional areas to reduce time-to-fill on recurring and critical roles.
- Coordinate recruitment events, job fairs, and campus programs to expand candidate reach and strengthen employer brand presence.
- Monitor and report on recruitment metrics, including time-to-fill, cost per hire, and diversity of source mix to inform hiring strategy.
- Manage relationships with external search firms and recruitment agencies to ensure consistent service delivery on third-party searches.
- Review and update job descriptions and screening criteria to ensure inclusive language and accurate role representation.
Offer acceptance rate says little without context, so resume framing for these sourcing outcomes shows what evidence employers actually want.
5. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5 or more years of full-cycle in-house or agency recruiting experience, with demonstrated success hiring across multiple functions.
- Proven ability to improve measurable recruitment outcomes, including time-to-fill, cost per hire, and diversity of candidate slates.
- Strong sourcing skills across digital channels, referral networks, and direct outreach methods.
- Experience managing relationships with hiring managers and senior business stakeholders in a professional and consultative manner.
- Solid understanding of employment and labor law, HR policies, and candidate data handling obligations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present market intelligence to business leaders.
Employment law knowledge is rarely defined precisely, so the skills behind each acquisition manager qualification fills that gap for applicants.
6. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience recruiting within a technology company or for technical roles, including software engineering and product functions.
- Familiarity with campus recruitment programs and early-career hiring strategies across multiple geographic markets.
- Prior experience managing external recruitment agencies or coordinating multi-stakeholder search processes in a multinational setting.
- Proficiency with applicant tracking systems and recruitment data reporting to support pipeline visibility and compliance.
7. Success Metrics & Environment
- Time-to-fill by function and seniority, measuring sourcing and process speed against agreed hiring targets.
- Cost per hire across internal and agency-sourced roles, tracking budget adherence over rolling quarters.
- Diversity of source mix as a percentage of shortlisted and hired candidates against stated workforce goals.
- Offer acceptance rate, reflecting candidate experience and the competitiveness of the hiring process managed.
- Pipeline coverage ratio, measuring active candidates per open role to assess bench depth before a vacancy goes critical.
- Typical tools: applicant tracking systems (commonly Workday Recruiting or Greenhouse); sourcing platforms (commonly LinkedIn Recruiter or similar).
Time-to-fill targets vary by sector, and salary benchmarks and career progression maps the common baseline across industries.
8. Compensation & Benefits (US Market Benchmark)
- Base Salary Range: $85,000 to $115,000 annually, depending on experience and market
- Bonus: Discretionary annual bonus of 5% to 10% of base salary
