1. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the overall strategic direction and management of HR, for an employee population of over 3,000. The incumbent will develop and implement HR policies and programs designed to attract, retain and motivate employees. This position will oversee the design, implementation and administration of all compliance programs including TSA, FAA, DOL, and EEO.

Director of Human Resources Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Company's professional human resource staff in the coordination of one or more specialized Company-wide human resources activity(ies)
  • Plan, direct, and organize the analysis, activities, and preparation of specialized human resources systems, procedures, and practices.
  • Establish human resources procedures and operations consistent with current laws and Company policies. 
  • Recommends new or revised human resources policies and programs to meet the operating needs of Mesa Air Group and the needs of its employees
  • Conduct various cost analysis relative to human resources budgetary planning control
  • Advise and consult with employees and management regarding employee relations' matters including: discipline processes, termination processes, and performance evaluation processes. Investigate problems, complaints and recommend to managers' corrective actions, problem resolution or work improvement strategies.
  • Oversee drug abatement program as the Designated Employer Representative (DER) according to the FAA guidelines and regulations
  • Develops program proposals and procedures and interprets and applies diverse policies, rules and regulations to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of Human Resources Department operations

  • Five (5) or more years of full-time progressively responsible leadership experience managing a multi-functional human resources department including employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, employee development, drug and alcohol abatement, and recruitment.

2. The Director of Human Resources oversees all HR activities within the city, ensuring effective implementation and alignment with municipal policies and objectives. This role involves strategic planning, development, and direction of HR functions, from policy formulation to program execution across all departments. As a strategic partner to the city's administration and department heads, the Director facilitates collaborative initiatives and supports departmental objectives. Director of HR Functions:

  • Administers and supervises the activities and personnel of the Human Resources section.
  • Works with department managers on strategic management goals related to staffing and organizational structures.
  • Provides guidance, advice and procedural clarification to department management staff and employees.
  • Develops and administers recruitment programs, to include vacancy notifications, advertising, applicant screening and creating recruitment strategies.

  • Coordinates, administers and processes benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, disability, spending accounts and other optional insurance products.

Director of HR Ability, Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of eight years’ experience performing Human Resources responsibilities.
  • Two years Human Resources supervisory experience required.
  • Any combination of education and experience totaling ten years may be considered.
  • Current SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is preferred.
  • Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of employee relations, benefits administration, performance evaluations, classification and compensation, Worker's Compensation, OSHA, EEO, LLR, Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, USERRA, COBRA and personnel policy development.

3. The Director of Human Resources collaborates closely with executive leadership to create and maintain HR strategies that support business objectives and enhance organizational and workforce effectiveness. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of HR programs and policies, including talent acquisition, onboarding, talent development and retention, organizational development, employee relations, as well as benefits and compensation planning.

Director of Human Resources Roles and Accountabilities:

  • HR Generalist experience, or an equivalent combination of graduate degree in law, Human Resources Management, or Psychology and HR management experience.

4. The Director of Human Resources actively collaborates with commercial management at both area and affiliate levels to assess and formulate strategies that significantly impact business operations. This role is crucial for the effective management and delivery of HR services across various functions. By closely working with the business and HR centers of excellence, the Director coordinates and implements HR strategies that align with organizational objectives.   • Previous experience in supervision and leadership with multiple levels of professionals ideally in matrix organizations
  • Experience in managing all relative aspects of local labor laws and administrative requirements within Human Resources and Employee Relations to comply with local requirements.

5. The Director of Human Resources will oversee the enhancement of HR processes and organizational training to achieve operational excellence. This role encompasses leadership across key HR functions such as Training, HRIS systems, and Performance Management. You will provide strategic guidance to improve HR operations and offer comprehensive support to both employees and managers. Your expertise in project management and relationship building will play a crucial role in reinforcing our organizational culture and enriching the employee experience.

Human Resources Director Duty and Role:

  • Collaborates with leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to organizational training, staffing, staff engagement, and retention. 
  • Work with leadership and program teams to create and lead the execution of our professional development and training roadmap;

Human Resources Director Requirement:

  • 5-7 years of a wide array of HR experiences (HR Generalist) and practices including benefits, recruitment/hiring, performance management, organizational development, and training 
  • BA/BS required 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Proven experience managing, supporting, and coaching staff 
  • Experience conducting and/or implementing trainings 
  • Experience using project management software such as Asana or Smartsheet 
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, focused on attention to detail, and comfortable with technology including HRIS systems; Microsoft Office Suite, Trakstar, Bamboo and LMS

6. The Director of Human Resources is fully responsible for leading all aspects of the Human Resources function for multiple business units including compensation, benefits, payroll, policy, multi-state compliance, workers compensation, unemployment claims, investigations, employee relations matters, employee engagement, employee development, culture, and full cycle talent management. The Director, Human Resources will work closely with our employees and leaders to provide world-class HR support in a variety of areas, including organizational development, employee relations, retention and reward initiatives, performance and change management. Director of Human Resources Accountabilities:

  • Provide strategic HR guidance to effectively communicate HR philosophy, practices, services, programs, and policies to ensure understanding and commitment
  • Design and drive key HR initiatives including, coaching and management, employee engagement, performance management, learning and development, employee communications, cultural events, DE&I initiatives, and organizational design across the businesses

  • Provide guidance on census data and metrics to guide strategic conversations and support business growth and initiatives, along with providing census reports, audits, and other metrics to UTA HR as needed
