The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in C# programming, Unity3D, and the development of AR, VR, and MR experiences, leveraging libraries like XRIT and VRTK.
An Overview of 3D Artist Job Description Responsibilities and Qualifications
1. As a 3D Artist, you'll contribute to enhancing the achievements of past projects and collaborate with a team of individuals committed to maintaining exemplary standards in their craft.
3D Artist Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take concept art and turn it into a fully fleshed out 3D world
- Work in a range of art styles and create high quality 3D art that will be used for all aspects of the games
- Work with both the creative vision and technical specifications to create high quality assets
- Work closely with the rest of the art team and be proactive in problem solving design, technical and artistic queries
- Strong portfolio showing artistic and technical capabilities
- Commercial experience with 3D modelling and UV layout for mobile platforms
- Understanding of limited polys and textures
3D Artist Requirements and Qualifications:
- Highly experienced with your chosen 3D software (either 3Ds Max, Blender or Maya) and preferably Unity as your real-time game engine (but will consider candidates with other engine exp)
- Examples of general asset creation in a combination of: environment, shaders, hard surface, lighting, animation, rigging.
- Ability to create 3D textures from scratch
- Work previously carried out with version control software preferably Perforce
- Team player excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Organised able to work to deadlines and good general time management
- Flexible adaptable and able to multi-task across projects and styles
- Excellent attention to detail
2. Working as a 3D Artist you’ll apply imagination and artistic skill to create various areas of art from character design, props, environment, and textures.
3D Artist Roles and Duties:
- Create high-quality artwork for a game, such as the texture, characters, environment
- Ensure artwork follows the agreed project style.
- Work collaboratively with other game artists, as well as members of the wider team, such as designers, developers, animators, quality assurance testers, and those involved in management and marketing.
- Take on board and implement feedback from the art lead by making appropriate changes to the artwork you’ve produced.
- Work to deadlines to help the team to produce the game efficiently and in line with the required schedule.
- Keep your skillset up to date and learn about new software as and when required.
3D Artist Experience and Requirements:
- Good communication and teamwork skills, to be able to liaise effectively with other game artists and members of the wider team
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently for extended periods
- Strong organizational and time management skills to enable you to work to deadlines and complete tasks efficiently
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure work is completed to a high standard and in line with the desired style

3. As a candidate for the 3D Artist role you are expected to have had at least 1 published games experience within a similar role in the industry, working on the creation of 3D game assets within that role.
3D Artist Roles and Functions:
- Responsible for the creation of fantastic 3D and occasional 2D art assets for use in our mobile/VR games in line with the agreed art style guides.
- Ensuring created art assets are optimised for use in our game engines, being particularly mindful of performance and memory constraints.
- Self testing of assets and validating that they meet the technical budgets laid out by the game engine.
- Being an active member of the art team, contributing ideas, concepts and technical solutions that will help build great games.
- Occasional concept artwork generation during pre-production phases.
3D Artist Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications:
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates excellent 3D and 2D skills, with particular focus on environment and character work.
- Proven drawing and layout skills that illustrate your ability to convey ideas and concepts to stakeholders.
- Up to date and comprehensive knowledge of Autodesk Maya (or other relevant 3D content creation packages) and Photoshop.
- Familiarity with the opportunities and challenges of the Free-to-play market, mobile gaming sector and the emerging VR market.
- Experience of game development in Unity.
- Ability with sculpting packages such as ZBrush or Mudbox.
- Knowledge of texture/material creation pipelines such as Substance or NDo/DDo.
- Active player of Mobile/VR games.
4. We are seeking a 3D Artist on a contract basis to help support our customer’s business needs. This role will create backgrounds, scene transitions, and/or characters. A typical Artist needs to have a high level of creativity and the ability to communicate their ideas to both internal and external clients.
3D Artist Accountabilities:
- Build and operate body motion capture lab.
- Motion to character rigging.
- Plan, analyze, and create 3D visual solutions to animation projects.
- Utilize a combination of hand drawing and computer design to produce special effects and action graphics.
- Prepare sketches or layouts to present to the team.
- Create three-dimensional models, animations, and visual effects.
3D Artist Ability, Experience, and Requirements:
- 3+ years of related experience.
- Ability to collect body motion with different technologies
- Must be experienced in character rigging.
- Must have experience in motion data cleaning.
- Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, and problem-solving ability.
- Expert ability to utilize various forms of media, including print, electronic, and film.
- Expert ability to visualize in 3D and understand aesthetic aspects of design.
- Previous experience using the computer to create layouts and generate new images.
- Experience with Adobe publishing and graphics software.
- Experience leading a team of artists.
- Must have QA background
- A strong motion-capture background.
- Must have a retargeting background.
- Must be an independent worker.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
5. The Digital 3D Artist role requires a motivated individual with a keen sense for aesthetics pertaining to interior design. The Digital 3D Artist will be responsible for modeling, texturing, styling, and lighting scenes/environments to create photorealistic content.
Digital 3D Artist Functions:
- Model, texture, style, and light interior and exterior environments to be used as backgrounds for product photography composites
- Take creative direction and translate that into work that is high quality and meets the brief
- Create a standardized workflow for producing environments on a regular and ongoing basis with efficiency
- Work with our Creative Director to interpret customer needs and develop customized environments to suit their brand
Digital 3D Artist Education, Knowledge and Experience:
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Game Art Design, Visual Effects, Animation or related field (an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered)
- You are a creative individual with an excellent eye for quality and detail, knowledge of lighting techniques and experience in creating photorealistic content
- You are well organized and able to keep projects moving, able to work individually and as a part of a team
- You have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with little to no supervision
- Experience in at least one 3D modeling software (e.g. 3dsMax, Maya, Blender)
- Thorough understanding of ray-traced lighting software & techniques. (V-ray, Arnold, Cycles, Octane, Redshift etc.)
- Familiar with Adobe Photoshop
