WHAT IS A RETAIL MANAGER?

The Retail Manager will oversee the daily operations of designated retail stores and carts, ensuring efficient management and optimal guest experiences. This role includes helping team members achieve revenue goals and providing training and development. Key responsibilities involve managing overall store operations and implementing team initiatives.

1. Retail Manager Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for efficiently carrying out day-to-day store operations and ensuring sales floor presence to provide assistance to the team.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the team adheres to the policies and SOPs that are implemented.
  • Responsible for ensuring consistent execution of guest service standards and exceeding guest expectations.
  • Lead and motivates store teams to achieve revenue and per cap budgets, by providing them with sales goals tied to revenue plans
  • Responsible for coaching and providing on-the-job training to enhance team member’s selling skills, product knowledge and guest service standards.
  • Motivate the team by establishing consistent expectations, course-correcting, and celebrating team success, within store team balancing service business with sales
  • Directly manages store team, exercises independent judgement and discretion in recognition and employee discipline
  • Communicate proactively with team members, guests and partners, work independently and regularly updates line managers
  • Consistently maintains the merchandise and visual standards in the store including stocking, cleaning, folding and proper product placement.
  • Monitors inventory levels in the store and ensures that inventory movement such as transfers, write offs are accurately recorded.
  • Manages stockroom tidiness and ensures that all products are displayed on the shop floor.

2. Retail Manager Experience and Qualification:

  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UBR MB policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • 3-5 years of retail experience with 2-3 years Supervisory experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Ability to work prolonged periods, long hours of standing and walking at predetermined pace.
  • Ability to work in outdoor Extreme Weather conditions to include direct sunlight, heat, cold or wet.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, training and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret spreadsheets.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to supervise direct reports and non-direct reports and is responsible for the frontline sales staff
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to speak appropriately to guest and team members
  • Ability to empathize and work in a flexible manner while working in a fast-paced environment
