1. Business Development Manager Responsibilities

  • Proactively discover new opportunities within target verticals and covert to genuine Partnership opportunities
  • Field inbound inquiries and convert to genuine Partnership opportunities.
  • Lead negotiations, coordinate complex decision-making processes and overcomes objections to generate and close new revenue through Partner recruitment
  • Deliver presentations tailored to the specific opportunity
  • Submit proposals and legally binding agreements between Cardstream and prospective Partners.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records for efficient reporting of sales activities within Kapta Key Account Management software.
  • Create and proactively manage Partner prospect pipeline while focusing time on highest value prospects to ensure sufficient short and long term business objectives
  • Provide a monthly report to the Head of Partner Growth detailing new opportunities, associated pipelines and barriers faced.
  • Help the organisation understand industry trends, growth opportunities and new product development opportunities by relaying partner needs and buying behaviour.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable on all Cardstream products, software and services
  • Attend and actively participate in industry events

2. Business Development Manager Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor / Degree in Business Administration and Management and/or Marketing or related fields; Valuable MBA
  • Previous sales experience is required, preferably within the payments industry. 
  • A commercial orientation and a strong focus on achieving agreed targets with a hunter mentality are essential. 
  • A keen interest in all industry-related topics is necessary to act as an educator in tender processes. 
  • Possessing a curious nature and the ability to create and explore opportunities wherever they may present themselves is important. 
  • The ability to professionally articulate the products and services provided in person, via video call, phone, and email is a must. 
  • Open internal communication is paramount for this role, as gathering complex requirements and feeding back to the business is expected. 
  • Confidence in presenting to varying audiences on differing topics is also required.
