1. The Bank Teller will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and assisting customers with various types of transactions while adhering to Bank policies and procedures. Additionally, the Bank Teller collaborates with colleagues to efficiently resolve customer concerns, promotes financial products and services, and stays informed about updates in banking regulations to guarantee accurate and compliant transactions.

Bank Teller Details and Functions:

  • Provides outstanding customer service both in-person and through telephone
  • Receive and deposit cash, checks, and other monetary instruments
  • Withdraw and disburse cash
  • Receive and process various types of payments
  • Perform change orders
  • Hold and process cash items
  • Process items left in the night deposit box
  • Prepare and distribute money orders and cashier's checks
  • Balance and clear individual computer terminal at the end of the shift
  • Assist in preparation of large change orders
  • Accept and process loan payments
  • Perform branch capture operations
  • Adheres to bank policies and procedures, including BSA/AML and OFAC Compliance
  • Prepare large change orders as requested by vault staff 


Bank Teller Education and Qualification:

  • High school graduate or equivalent, required
  • Previous experience or cash handling preferred Intermediate skills in computer operation including typing/keyboarding and calculator operation.

The Bank Teller plays a crucial role in the accurate and efficient processing of routine member transactions, encompassing deposits, withdrawals, money transfers, loan payments, VISA transactions, gift cards, and more. Additionally, the role involves active cross-selling of Credit Union products and services.

Bank Teller Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve assigned cash drawer from the vault at the beginning of the shift.
  • Pull and process night drops each morning.
  • Process and log mail each day.
  • Identify customers, validate, and cash checks.
  • Accept cash and checks for deposit.
  • Process cash withdrawals.
  • Perform specialized tasks such as preparing cashier's checks, money orders, etc.
  • Perform services for customers such as ordering bank cards and checks.
  • Receive and verify loan payments.
  • Assist with wires-take information, amount, fee, and call back verification.
  • Record all transactions promptly, accurately, and in compliance with bank procedures.
  • Balance currency, cash and checks in cash drawer throughout the day and at the end of shift.
  • Transfer totals at the end of the business day.
  • Answer inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts
  • Related products and services by phone and in person.
  • Attempt to resolve issues and problems with members’ accounts.
  • Perform account maintenance as needed.
  • Explain, advise on, and promote bank products and services to members.
  • Assist/Support the Credit Union in business development efforts by cross-selling/up-selling products and services.
  • Ensures the work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies, procedures, and rules
  • Regulations and ensure all guidelines have strictly complied with in the process of discharging duties.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with all people, including fellow employees, members, management staff, board members, and outside vendors.


Bank Teller Skills, Experience, Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) regulations.
  • Strong mathematical skills for accurate and efficient transaction processing.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately count currency and coins.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Resolve customer concerns/issues in a positive way
