ACADEMIC DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly creative and forward-thinking Academic Director, whose pivotal role will be in developing programs that are compliant with statutory and regulatory standards, including securing MQA accreditation. This individual will ensure the financial viability and welfare of students while leading internal audits and collaborating with the Recruitment team to meet enrollment targets. The role is crucial for maintaining the highest educational quality through rigorous compliance, auditing, and effective feedback within accreditation processes.

An Overview of Academic Director Job Description Responsibilities and Qualifications

1. The Academic Director's role encompasses the strategic development, execution, and oversight of the academic curriculum, aimed at bridging educational disparities in mathematics and literacy. This includes facilitating tutoring sessions for subjects deemed most critical and fostering an environment where every scholar is primed for scholastic achievement. We are in search of a pedagogue proficient in advanced STEM disciplines to steer our educational initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess robust classroom management abilities, excel in forging meaningful connections with learners, demonstrate exceptional communication prowess, and exhibit superior organizational capabilities.

Academic Director Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall running of all faculties
  • Responsible for programmes development in compliance with statutory regulations, timetabling, financial and profitability of programmes, and also student welfare
  • Work with Recruitment team to ensure target number of students are enrolled to run the programmes
  • Internal Quality Audit; to audit the process performance of faculties, which includes auditing, reporting and any follow-up audits
  • Support the accreditation processes of the MQA and other professional bodies
  • Ensure compliance with academic regulatory requirements, internal policies and ISO standards
  • Provide effective, well documented and timely feedback, both formative and summative


Academic Director Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Serve as an ambassador for the university, inspiring trust and confidence at all levels
  • Applicants must at least possess a PhD in Education and be a certified academician, or equivalent
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience (academic or industry) in a senior capacity with similar position
  • Excellent understanding in academic delivery as well as teaching and learning methodologies and tools
  • Able to develop curriculum and teaching methodology
  • Relevant exposure in service and education industry preferred, especially with experience in international management
  • Strong operational, strategic, delivery and financial acumen
  • Applicants should be self-motivated, focused, confident and have strong interpersonal communication and written language skills, be able to multi-task and have the ability to meet deadlines
  • Possess good interpersonal, project management skills, complex problem solving and organisational skills
  • A pleasant personality and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Highly committed to meet professional standards under tight deadlines
  • International experience preferred (either employment or studied abroad) and able to work with a diverse team
  • Willing to serve abroad
