An Overview of Cost Auditor Job Description Responsibilities and Qualifications
1. The Cost Auditor is responsible for day-to-day auditing of group Facilities invoices and quotes, collaborating with the Cost Management Supervisor to ensure compliance with budgets and identify cost reduction opportunities. With expertise in cost management, invoice auditing, and effective communication, the role focuses on optimizing value, maintaining contractor relationships, and generating periodic audit reports for stakeholders.
Cost Auditor Functions:
- Accountable for the day-to-day auditing of group Facilities invoices and quotes covering both reactive and capex contractor spend in-line with budgets.
- Supporting the Cost Management Supervisor to ensure audits are completed on both reactive and capex jobs for the Tier 1 contractors and the internal Helpdesks against schedule of rates, average equipment costs and time on site to drive best value and costs reduction opportunities.
- Supporting the Cost Management Supervisor, Retail Facilities Manager, Management Accounts and Procurement by generating periodic audit reports.
- Supporting the Cost Management Supervisor with developing and managing contractor relationships on invoicing, costs escalations and quotes.
- Supporting the Cost Management Supervisor by identifying costs reduction opportunities to drive best value for the Group.
- Day to day auditing & validating of all Facilities reactive and capex invoices ensuring they are in line schedule of rates, average equipment costs and time on site to drive best value and costs reduction opportunities.
- Auditing of PAH & V4P helpdesk POs ensuring they are in line with agreed processes and KPIs.
- Reporting results of audits to the Cost Management Supervisor and analysing the findings to identify costs reduction opportunities to drive best value for the Group.
- Conducting audits on all larger value jobs to ensuring they are in line schedule of rates, average equipment costs and time on site to drive best value and costs reduction opportunities.
Cost Auditor Education and Qualifications:
- Must have experience of working in a cost management or invoice team.
- Previous experience of auditing large volume contractor invoices and quotes.
- Experience in working within Facilities or Construction would be advantageous but is by no means essential.
- Effective data and cost management reporting.
- Analytical and appetite for continuous improvements.
- Ability to work with in-house invoice systems and competent in all elements of excel.
- Effective communicator with excellent contractor cost negotiation skills.
