CFO/COO JOB DESCRIPTION
As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will lead finance and operations development, including financial strategy, analysis, reporting, budgeting, contract negotiation, HR management, and systems development. Your role involves identifying and reporting key performance indicators for operational excellence and defining strategies for product operations, encompassing kitting, shipping, lab operations, accounting, and revenue recognition. Additionally, you will drive technology initiatives to support financial needs and collaborate closely with the CEO on investor relations and board management.


An Overview of CFO/COO Job Description Responsibilities and Qualifications
1. The CFO/COO plays a crucial role as a core member of the executive team, collaborating closely with the CEO, President, and CTO. They will oversee finance and operations, taking a leading role in shaping company strategy, conducting financial analysis and modeling, and evaluating performance metrics.
CFO/COO Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead and build-out finance and operations, including financing strategy, financial analysis, financial reporting, budget forecasting/planning, contract negotiation, human resources and systems development.
- Identify, measure and report on key performance indicators to maintain executional excellence.
- Define company strategies around Lamwork’s product operations, including kitting, shipping, laboratory, accounting and revenue recognition.
- Support and influence technology initiatives to define and build out IT infrastructure needed to support Lamwork’s financial needs.
- Bring a broad and sophisticated understanding of financing strategy across equity, debt and grants.
- Together with the rest of the executive team, work closely with the CEO on investor relations and board management.
- Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the company.
- Manage the overall strategy and purpose of the Human Resources function: benefits, payroll, 401k, recruitment, learning and development, culture, performance management, compensation strategy, and succession planning.
- Hold primary responsibility for compliance with government contracting and other reporting/regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to company strategy, growth, discussion and decision-making as an executive leader of the company.
CFO/COO Experience and Skills:
- Experience in senior finance or operations roles, such as CFO/OO, VP of Finance or Operations from a venture-backed, private equity-backed or prior operating role within VC/PE firms.
- Demonstrated track record of driving creative financial strategies, financial reporting systems, operational scalability and excellence using data-driven metrics for high growth companies. Experience interfacing with institutional investors.
- Has had compliance/regulatory responsibility in other companies.
- Experience negotiating and managing strategic partnerships.
- Has structured equity and debt financings.
- Able to analyze and communicate financial information as tied to company and product strategy clearly and effectively.
