14. AV Technician (Sports & Live Events Production)
Seamless broadcast technology and live event execution at Amway Center depend on the AV Technician, who advances setup and strike of audio, video, lighting, communications, and LED equipment across Orlando Magic games, concerts, and corporate hospitality events. Serving as a graduate associate within the Broadcast Technology and Services department, the role supports Premium Services Staff and clients on event and non-event days while maintaining portable systems, cable infrastructure, and equipment inventory.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Set up and strike all sizes of event setups including audio, video, lighting, communications, and LED equipment.
- Operate small audio consoles and associated outboard gear ranging from 4 to 48 channels.
- Execute small and large corporate conference setups throughout the venue.
- Provide technical support to Premium Services Staff and clients on event and non-event days.
- Operate Crestron control systems and PC and Mac platforms with video projection systems.
- Assemble, operate, and maintain portable audio systems, source control devices, and custom control systems.
- Manage cable installation, terminate audiovisual and data connectors, and build and dress equipment racks.
- Perform light maintenance and repair, maintain inventory of consumables, and report equipment failures.
Requirements
- 2-year college degree or equivalent AV work experience required; recent graduate within 24 months of graduation preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of audio experience with excellent knowledge of live audio principles, microphones, and sound reinforcement.
- Knowledge of audio and video signal flow as it pertains to live sports production preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electricity as it pertains to event setups and ancillary equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
- Self-directed with strong critical thinking and teamwork skills.
- Flexible to work a schedule based on changing departmental priorities.
- Ability to work around heights over 100 feet.
