Reporting to informatics leadership, the Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for providing direct and technical support enterprise-wide to clinical associates to ensure efficient and accurate utilization of the electronic health record. Partnering with all disciplines across unit-based informatics committees and designated project teams, the role develops solutions that optimize EMR documentation, facilitate evidence-based practice, and support strategic initiatives across the organization.

Operational Focus

• Provide daily shoulder-to-shoulder support to clinical associates throughout the enterprise.
• Facilitate optimization of the EMR to enhance clinical documentation.
• Provide education to clinical associates for upgrades, optimizations, and new hire orientation.
• Coach and guide end users in developing and broadening skills related to use of the electronic health record.
• Analyze complex clinical operations and workflows to facilitate decision making and recommend solutions for bridging performance gaps.
• Continually evaluate workflows and changes in practice to improve processes and facilitate evidence-based practice and safe patient care.
• Perform all facets of the instructional design process including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation for electronic health record education.
• Develop and utilize methods of obtaining feedback from clinical associates and use aggregate feedback to improve overall systems and enhance patient and associate satisfaction.
• Manage designated projects, direct tasks, review deliverables, and communicate with team members.
• Act as a liaison to unit-based informatics committees and teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required, or must obtain within 3 years of hire.
• Active clinical licensure required, with Nursing or Respiratory Therapy preferred, transferable to applicable state or compact state.
• Epic training certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience required.
• Epic and EMR experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of clinical practice, workflows, and organizational structure.
• Aptitude for conflict resolution.
• Ability to work in a team environment under aggressive deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
