BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

The Behavioral Health Technician must possess a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and complete Certified Caregiver Certification within six months of employment. The role requires proficiency in Microsoft applications, knowledge of the needs of various adult populations, and Nursing Assistant Certification. This position fluency in both English and Spanish is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively and participate actively in team meetings.

1. BS in Psychology with 2 years of Experience

  • Must have successfully completed the Level I Medication Aide Training Program
  • Must have current CPR certification or be willing to obtain CPR certification
  • Must be familiar with fire and disaster procedures
  • Must be able to perform duties with minimal direction from the Program Manager
  • Must be able to think, act, and intervene independently in both routine and emergency situations
  • Must be self-motivated and possess good judgment
  • Utilize tactful, diplomatic communication skills to interact in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations
  • Able to perform the physical/mental functions/requirements of the position
  • Experience in behavioral health preferred
  • Experience in residential, corrections, or hospital settings considered
  • Experience in psychiatric rehabilitation services, certified peer support services, substance abuse services, forensic services, and/or crisis intervention services considered.

2. BA in Social Work with 4 years of Experience

  • Have, or be able to obtain, a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Department of Public Safety background check/fingerprint clearance process
  • Must be able to complete the Certified Caregiver Certification within 6 months of employment
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of needs of older adults, the aging process, and the needs of adults with disabilities, adults with traumatic brain injuries (or TBI) or SMI
  • Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA/LNA) by the Arizona State Board of Nursing
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Ability to read and interpret written information, write clearly and informally, and edit work for spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and get clarification, respond well to questions, 
  • Ability to demonstrate group presentation skills, and participate in meetings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.

3. BS in Nursing with 3 years of Experience

  • Requires CPI, and CPR/AED certification
  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in mental health or related field.
  • Experience with both adolescents and adults preferred.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Awareness and understanding of regulating bodies (CARF, Ga DCH) and strong compliance with HIPPA laws.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Able to positively interact and develop rapport with clients and families, professional support staff, and various levels of staff from community agencies
  • Able to maintain a calm, non-defensive, supportive attitude during stressful situations
