WHAT IS A JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT ?
The Junior Accountant role demands strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with team members across various departments. This position involves contributing to the monthly financial closing process by preparing specialized journal entries and processing them in our digital systems. Additionally, the role requires finalizing all subsidiary ledgers at the end of each month to ensure accurate financial reporting.


Need-to-Know Overview of a Junior Accountant
1. Junior Accountant Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in monthly account monitoring to ensure accurate disbursement of the AP and AR general ledger accounts.
- Assists with month end closings, annual audits, cash flow reporting, bank relationship reporting.
- Performs account reconciliations
- Prepares bank deposits and reports.
- Supports Controllers with month end reporting and other duties
- Handle all basic accounting functions
- Prepares new employee files for Human Resources
- Maintains employee files
- Generates initial employee payroll entry
- Schedules New Hire Orientation.
- Maintains Group Health, Dental insurance records including new enrollment and changes for monthly insurance billing.
- Human Resources, general accounting functions, billing/receivables and payroll functions.
- Prepares payroll bi-weekly.
- Prepares vacation schedules for each department.
- Supports administration of Group Health, Life and Dental Insurance transactions.
2. Junior Accountant Skills, Ability and Educations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Accounting required.
- Project cost accounting experience, a plus.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office, Accounting system software, JobBoss a plus.
- Any HR experience, a plus.
- Experience working in a cross-functional and multi-cultural environment
- Solid stress-resilience and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines with a positive attitude
- Ability to keep an open mind and to come up with creative , efficient and pragmatic solutions for issues that may arise
- Strong knowledge of SAP is an asset
