Need-to-Know Overview of a Certified Public Accountant

1. Certified Public Accountant Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily maintenance and review of financial statements for various entities
  • Responsible for the month-end closing process including, but not limited to, journal entry review and/or preparation
  • Financial statement preparation for various entities, and reporting financials to Parent
  • Responsible for the Sub Clearing, Business Introducer, and Independent Contractor Agreements payment process
  • Initial set-up of the agreements
  • Monthly and/or quarterly preparation of commission pay-out reports
  • Maintain direct communication with Client Relationship Officers and Business Introducers regarding payment matters, monthly calculation
  • Payment of retrocessions, and subsequent journal entry preparation and booking of retrocession expenses
  • Assist in booking and/or reviewing revenue for all trading platforms and related account reconciliations
  • Assist with Regulatory reporting as needed
  • Responsible for various monthly journal entry preparation and booking of financial statement items

2. Certified Public Accountant Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Experience with RSU expense, trade corrections, and errors, lease amortization, monthly Subclearing accruals, intercompany service level agreements, etc.
  • Monitor client bill payment program alongside Staff Accountant, including approval of Accountant inputs for processing
  • Ability to assist with the drafting of Annual Financial Statements and assist as a direct point of contact for various audit and regulatory requests
  • Assist in the analysis and implementation of newly-issued GAAP accounting standards
  • Serve as a direct point of contact for all Client Relationship Officers regarding inquiries related to trade revenues, trade ticket charges, and Subclearing/BI matters.
