The Database Administrator will also provide design and input on ways Gophers information storage systems can be enhanced and updated to meet new demands. This role is a key position within IT and requires collaboration between the Infrastructure and Development teams. Additionally, this role is responsible for the development and ongoing operation of Gopher's most critical information repositories, including the development of a process that protects retrieval, storage, and deletion of critical company info. These repositories represent a critical link in the ability for the business to enjoy smooth and consistent operation and hold information relating to environmental compliance, operational history, and current business performance. This position reports to the IT Applications Manager.

1. Database Administrator Roles and Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor and maintain internal database systems integrity to maximize critical database uptime.
- Design, implement and maintain standards and policies to ensure consistency and accuracy in database and application development.
- Develop database objects and stored procedures that are within system requirements to meet the needs of the organization’s business objectives through custom software applications.
- Troubleshoot and seek out methods to better handle data or improve/automate current processes to increase efficiency in data collection and automation.
- Facilitate efficient access to information powering business decisions.
- Identify existing systems that are candidates to be enhanced or modernized though detailed analysis of the use and design of current databases.
- Own the overall user access and provisioning process of database objects and services.
- Monitor and maintain system health and security.
- Design and maintain retention processes for database instances.
- Create database management procedures.
- Works with the software architect to challenge historical norms to enable technical growth through new platforms and practices to better support the objectives and growth of the business.
- Analyze and update current processes that have issues or could be enhanced (Data imports from Plant Database).
- Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution.
- Evaluate data analysis models and procedures.
2. Database Administrator Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited College or University.
- Previous direct experience with database standards and end-user applications.
- Previous experience installing, configuring, managing, monitoring and troubleshooting SQL Server 2012 and 2016.
- Advanced knowledge of database structure and theory.
- Previous experience with MSSQL.
- Basic understanding of disaster recovery and database backup procedures.
- Familiarity with reporting tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance.
- Operational Experience with some of the named systems above
- System administration in one or more of named applications.
- Experience leading projects and managing expectations.
