Economist Functions:

  • Provide support and develop approaches for conducting economic analyses.

  • Minimum of 10 years of substantial and progressive experience researching and developing a wide range of economic analyses, such as cost-benefit, cost effectiveness, valuation of ecosystem services, and value chain approach. 
  • Experience which includes the following: conducting research on economic phenomena, analyzing economic data, modeling economic systems, conducting market analyses, compiling databases, and preparing interpretive reports that address stakeholder economic decision requirements. 
  • Background related to microeconomics, macroeconomics, behavioral economics, and econometrics (or statistical analysis in general). 
  • Minimum education: Graduate degree in economics, or a related field with a concentration in economics.
  • Experience with economic issues and analyses related to droughts and the impact to the economy
  • Demonstrated experience in developing cost-benefit and return on investment analyses
  • Demonstrated experience with market research approach and strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in valuing market and non-market resources and services
  • Demonstrated experience working on interdisciplinary teams. 
  • Previous experience with coordinating and engaging partners across multiple offices and agencies and engaging stakeholders to understand and address their decision-support needs with economic information, data, and analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences (including oral and written communication).
