Business Strategy Analyst Job Description Template

1. About the Role

Corporate planning is only as good as the analysis behind it. A Business Strategy Analyst turns raw portfolio data, competitive signals, and operational metrics into the structured recommendations that senior leadership uses to allocate capital and set direction. The role sits inside a strategy or business intelligence function, accountable for the quantitative layer of decisions that range from cost optimization and capacity investment to market entry evaluation. What distinguishes this analyst from a pure reporting role is ownership of the analytical framework itself - defining the KPIs, building the models, and pressure-testing assumptions against real market data.

2. Position Summary

As the Business Strategy Analyst, you translate complex business and financial data into clear strategic recommendations, supporting leadership across planning cycles, competitive assessments, and performance reporting for the organization's core business units. You operate within a cross-functional strategy or BI team, partnering directly with Finance, Operations, and senior decision-makers to ensure analyses are timely, accurate, and actionable.

Career Impact: Analysts who own KPI frameworks and capital investment modeling in corporate strategy roles develop the financial and market fluency that is highly transferable to senior roles in corporate development, FP&A leadership, or general management.
