1. SQL Server Database Administrator Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain the Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Dynamics GP environment, including Production and UAT including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades, schema changes, etc.
  • Work with MS great plains consultant to manage MS great plains.
  • Work with various teams for performance tuning and optimization, query optimization, index tuning, caching, buffer tuning, etc
  • Serve as the MS SQL and great plains subject matter expert for daily support initiatives
  • Develop, implement and maintain queries, dashboards and reports
  • Plan manage and support required application upgrades within the financial system
  • Administer security roles and tasks in compliance with corporate policies
  • Proactively monitors application health
  • Document and update procedures and processes experience a must
  • Develop and maintain database backup & recovery, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity procedures
  • Expected to provide help-desk end-user support of Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Dynamics-GP for back-office users
  • Assist in solving production problems promptly, including off-hours and weekend support when necessary

2. SQL Server Database Administrator Skills, Experience, Qualifications

  • 4+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience supporting SQL environment
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial aspects would be a plus
  • MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) development experience
  • Management Reporter experience is a plus
  • Microsoft SQL Server Database administration, maintenance, upgrades, backup and recovery
  • Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment
  • Willing and flexible to work in all areas of Information Technology as needed
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience with backup, restore and recovery models
