WHAT IS A DRIVER ?

The Driver is committed to delivering exceptional customer service to all passengers, adopting all necessary and reasonable measures to do so. This includes conducting daily safety inspections of the vehicle, stocking the vehicle with water and safety equipment, and collaborating with the life enrichment coordinator or assistant to guarantee passenger safety during off-campus transports. Additionally, the Driver will meticulously plan the optimal travel route beforehand, ensure that all passengers have their seat belts secured before the vehicle moves, and adhere strictly to both state and local safety regulations. Eating, drinking, and the use of cell phones are strictly prohibited while driving.

Need-to-Know Overview of a Driver

1. Driver Rolea and Accountabilities

  • Successful completion of a professional/commercial truck or bus driving school within the previous 24 months.
  • Capable of functioning independently, working as part of a team, be willing to pitch in as needed
  • Flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with people of all backgrounds.
  • Required to have good common sense and react appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Communicate effectively and be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with attention to detail.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential part of this position. 
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail

2. Driver Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Proof of valid California Driver’s License Class B with passenger endorsement.
  • Proof of insurance with no moving violations for ten years
  • Maintain a current, valid medical examination certificate.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and health screen
  • Able to move intermittently throughout the work day, performing such activities as grasping, lifting, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and perform medium physical work
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a frequent basis and up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Carries out detailed written or verbal instructions.
  • Weekends, holidays, and some overtime is required
