1. Chemical Engineer Duties and Functions

  • Develop the process control of chemical reaction furnace
  • Develop operation procedure for the chemical reaction furnace
  • Develop safe handling and storage of chemical gas which can be flammable and corrosive
  • Participate in the development of novel chemical processes to improve SRF cavity performance
  • Support the troubleshooting of chemical processing equipment including electropolishing system
  • Providing technical leadership to chemical reaction, processing and safety in Fermilab
  • Presenting work to scientific collaborations, conferences, workshops and reviews

2. Chemical Engineer Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering or closely related field.
  • Has more than three years of experience in areas of safe handling of hazardous chemical materials, chemical process control development and risk analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial plant operation and data analysis.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and technical report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of solving practical problems in chemical processing, desired
  • Attention to details of complex procedures related to SRF cavities, highly preferred
  • Experience with electropolishing of niobium cavities is advantageous
