WHAT DOES A TESTER DO?

1. Tester Duties

  • Liaison Skill: Liaise with relevant site personnel to ascertain the state of the lift
  • Communication Skill: Post notices on the lift and communicate with the others who may be affected
  • Electrical Safety: Ensures that the lift is electrically safe
  • Lift Commissioning: Commissions the lift in accordance with the agreed specification parameters
  • Lift Testing: Tests the lift in accordance with the relevant test document and KONE standard interpretation of EN81, Lift Directive, or design

  • Accessibility Testing: Perform accessibility testing, evaluation, and analysis with a wide range of assistive technology tools (e.g., screen readers, magnification features, switch control devices, etc.) on multiple platforms, including desktop, mobile, and smart displays, as well as against existing accessibility standards such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Nontraditional Testing: Conduct non-traditional testing (e.g., bug bashes, heuristic evaluations, etc.).

3. Tester Functions

  • Test Automation: Drive the Test Automation of CHRP and 3rd Party programmes covering diversified components like APIs, ETL, GUI, and DB.
  • Technical Support: Solve technical issues faced by team members.
  • Code Review: Work with and review team members' automation code and suggest optimum ways of building the code that can meet all industry-level best practices.
  • Requirement Analysis: Work closely with Operations/Business colleagues to understand the requirements, automate them from a functional testing point so that the test pack can be executed as many times.
  • Agile Practice: Gain an understanding of agile development/test methodology and practice it in day-to-day work.

  • Sprint Delivery: Work as part of scrum teams, deliver test automation within sprint cycles.

4. Tester Details and Accountabilities

  • Requirements Review: Review business/software requirements and provide inputs.
  • Test Preparation: Prepare test cases, test scripts, and test data.
  • Test Execution: Execute tests (manual/automated).
  • Defect Reporting: Report defects and assist in their understanding.
  • Result Analysis: Analyze test results and track software testing metrics.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with a team and collaborate with others to support the functional lead throughout the SDLC process.

5. Tester Additional Details

  • Test Script Administration: Run and administrate test scripts for the quarterly and monthly release, as well as ad-hoc testing upon request

6. Tester Essential Functions

  • SQL Querying: Be responsible for querying SQL tables relating to the system to identify issues.
  • Error Identification: Identify data errors/system usage errors and be able to suggest ways to improve functionality or business processes.
  • Risk Management: Manage risks and work with product vendors to resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Product Availability: Track and ensure the products are available and fit for use under the conditions of the service level agreements.
  • Testing Procedures: Develop and implement testing procedures for local end-user testing and identify relevant users to complete these.

9. Information Technology Tester Roles and Details

  • Valve Inspection: Inspect and test complicated valve systems to ensure products meet precise and reliable performance standards.
  • Quality Determination: Determine whether a product meets quality standards, and the reasons for rejection and malfunctions.
  • Deviation Correction: Recommend methods of correcting such deviations.
