As the COBOL Developer, this role manages technical analysis of issues in HR and payroll processes running on the COBOL mainframe and supports unit, integration, and acceptance testing for each assigned initiative. The technical teams and Business Analysts rely on this work to derive appropriate technical solutions, with defect resolution and batch job execution meeting testing requirements.

Activities

• Analyze and review issues with HR and Payroll processes running on COBOL Mainframe.
• Collaborate with technical teams and Business Analysts to derive appropriate technical solutions.
• Support Unit Testing of the assigned code components, ensuring compatibility with the interfacing code/application.
• Support System Integration and Business Acceptance Testing for any defect resolution and batch job execution as per the testing requirements.
• Provide Technical SME Support for various phases of assigned initiatives.
• Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation, and teamwork, and ensure timely communication of issues/points of interest.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• 10 or more years of mainframe COBOL/JCL experience.
• Proficiency in multiple data environments, including DB2.
• Experience with tools such as Control-M, SPUFI, File Manager, and DB2 utilities.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• HR systems experience is a plus.

Professional Experience

• Bachelor's degree.
• 4 or more years of experience with mainframe technologies: CICS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
• 3 or more years of experience in full lifecycle delivery of complex systems, including requirements, design, build, test, and deployment.
• Experience displaying strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technological concepts to both technically proficient IT professionals and end-users in an understandable and comprehensive manner.
• Experience providing end-to-end ownership for problems, issues, or escalations.
