Role Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with IT and business peers for supported systems.
• Lead and coordinate all testing within a system area and perform testing when needed.
• Play a leadership role in the design, development, and implementation of testing and automation components.
• Coordinate and identify test cases to automate and mentor staff in automation processes.
• Provide consultation to projects and application support groups regarding automation design, development, and execution.
• Define appropriate testing methods to ensure developed products conform to requirements and design.
• Review and approve all project-related test assets for completeness and quality, and ensure all applicable SDLC and testing processes are followed.
• Manage onshore and offshore test execution resources, test data management, and communication across a diverse team of testers, developers, and business stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction to the testing team and organisation.

Background & Experience

• 6–8 years of scripting and coding experience using test automation tools for functional and regression testing.
• Hands-on experience designing automation frameworks using TDD and BDD approaches with Selenium and/or RFT.
• Hands-on experience with AngularJS REST multi-tier web applications and implementing Page Object framework or equivalent; web services testing including SOA and REST APIs.
• Experience in Health Care Claims preferred; No-SQL experience such as MongoDB is a plus.
• Knowledge of various automation tools with ability to define good automation practices for maximum coverage and efficiency; ability to analyse and evaluate test automation feasibility across multiple technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD integration environments such as Jenkins and Bamboo, BDD tools such as Cucumber, Selenium WebDriver (Core Java), TestNG, Maven, Bamboo, BitBucket, and JIRA.
• Experience writing automation scripts for Java Services and REST services using open-source tools.

The Automation Test Lead develops test frameworks and automated functional tests for a surgical technology platform that synthesises AI, computer vision, and robotics, working with engineers across disciplines to translate requirements into test cases and integrate automation with CI systems. Collaborating with Product Owners, DevOps teams, and cross-functional engineering stakeholders, this role drives TDD/BDD culture and ensures continuous testing at Sprint milestones supports FDA-regulated medical device development under IEC 62304.

Engineering Responsibilities

• Develop test frameworks and automated functional tests to provide end-to-end smoke and regression test coverage.
• Work with engineers from multiple disciplines to understand technical architecture and feature implementation.
• Participate in product design discussions and reviews to identify automation needs and test candidates.
• Work with Engineers and Product Owners to understand requirements and translate them into test cases.
• Support continuous testing at appropriate Sprint milestones and identify defects in new feature development.
• Work with the DevOps team to integrate automation with Jenkins and test reporting systems.
• Implement automated test suites across technology stacks and drive a TDD/BDD culture.
• Collaborate in optimising build and release pipeline infrastructure.

Education & Experience

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Must have medical device industry experience with knowledge of 62304 FDA V&V testing requirements.
• 5+ years of software test automation experience.
• Expertise in one or more OOP languages including C, C#, C++, Java, or Python.
• Experience writing test software that interfaces with hardware.
• Experience with CI/CD and strong proficiency in automation methods, techniques, strategies, and testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with BDD, Gherkin/Cucumber or SpecFlow, JIRA, and Agile methodology.
