Reporting to the District Asset Protection Manager and Senior Director of Asset Protection, this role builds associate safety knowledge through quarterly training meetings and supports the broader Safety team in evacuation drills, hazard reporting, and new store openings.
Key Deliverables
- Maintain evidence appropriately in all cases and pursue restitution as appropriate.
- Forward all written requests for civil compromise, attorney communications, and reports of non-productive detentions to the Senior Director of Asset Protection promptly.
- Perform all job functions in a safe, ethical, and legal manner and protect the organisation from foreseeable litigation at all times.
- Employ all available technological tools, including CCTV, POS, time and attendance systems, alarm systems, and databases.
- Actively participate in physical inventories and monitor inventory processes in the area of assignment.
- Ensure all CCTV equipment is clean, functional, and operating properly, and assist in the installation, movement, or repair of equipment as requested.
- Schedule budgeted contract security hours to achieve the most effective results and review all security company invoices for proper billing.
- Conduct regular, random, and pinpoint surveillances at assigned facilities during both open and closed hours.
- Conduct and document regular operational compliance audits at each facility, covering cash handling, cash office procedures, locker checks, bag checks, seal control, alarm procedures, key control, opening and closing procedures, discrepancy reporting, employee purchasing, mishandling, safety compliance, and identification badge compliance.
- Conduct regular audits of facility key control and verify that alarm call lists, access lists, and safe combinations are current and properly maintained.
- Conduct and document quarterly training meetings at assigned facilities on Asset Protection, loss prevention, safety, and security topics, maintaining meeting notes with attendee signatures.
- Attend Asset Protection, security, and safety training as directed.
- Assist the Safety team as requested and regularly participate in evacuation drills and safety meetings.
- Uphold safe work practices, train and educate employees on safety requirements, and report any potential hazards or accidents.
- Assist with new store openings and closures, protecting assets throughout construction and closing phases.
- Submit timely reports, documents, and schedules as directed and keep the District Asset Protection Manager informed of all significant events.
Professional Experience
- Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Associate's degree preferred.
- Loss Prevention Qualified (LPQ) certification preferred, or LPQ certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum 3–5 years of retail loss prevention and asset protection experience, with substantial experience deterring shoplifters in a safe, legal, and ethical manner.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear, concise, grammatically correct reports.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Superior time management, prioritisation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data, and to organise, sort, and categorise information.
- Stress management skills with strong observation skills and good day and night vision and hearing.

10. Asset Protection Manager (District Investigations & Shrink Reduction)
Embedded within district operations, the Asset Protection Manager oversees internal and external theft investigations, develops shrink reduction plans, and supervises contract guard services across an assigned area of retail stores. Working closely with the district manager, Associate Relations, Human Resources, and Legal, this role delivers prosecution support, compliance audits, and security program recommendations that protect customers, associates, and company property.
Areas of Ownership
- Protect customers, associates, and company property.
- Promote adherence to company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Perform required compliance audits as directed.
- Work closely with the district manager, district staff, and Asset Protection staff.
- Investigate both internal and external theft and human resources issues, including sexual harassment, workplace violence, and wage and hour issues, in close partnership with Associate Relations, Human Resources, and Legal.
- Report investigation findings to Human Resources, Legal, and respective executive operations personnel for disposition.
- Assist law enforcement with investigations and prosecutions.
- Develop shrink reduction plans and strategies for the assigned area.
- Monitor in-store security programmes and make recommendations to ensure their effectiveness.
- Supervise contract guard services in the assigned area.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Wicklander-Zulawski certification preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of Loss Prevention and Asset Protection management experience.
- Knowledge of city, county, and state penal codes, particularly those related to shoplifting, arrest, courtroom demeanour, and bad check collection.
- Strong ability to interview witnesses and suspects and to testify in legal, union, and unemployment hearings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Great interpersonal skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to conduct investigations with sound interviewing and interrogation skills.
