WHAT IS A SPECIAL ASSETS CREDIT ANALYST ?
The role of the Special Assets Credit Analyst entails aiding the Credit and Risk team in managing distressed loan cases, aiming to optimize the Bank's returns in both cooperative and workout scenarios. Additionally, they are tasked with assessing delinquencies, monitoring individual loan workouts and dispositions, and providing comprehensive portfolio evaluations to the Credit & Risk Management Group. The Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting these teams to mitigate credit losses and collection expenses for Genesis Capital (GC) concerning troubled loans.

Need-to-Know Overview of a Special Assets Credit Analyst
1. Special Assets Credit Analyst Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support and guidance to Genesis Capital's Portfolio Management Group on early identification of troubled loans
- Support the direction process and foreclosure process in a manner that is both efficient and market sensitive.
- Prepare Troubled Loan Reports and Impairment Analysis for submission to Troubled Loan Review Committee to ensure appropriate identification
- Resolution of troubled loans and early identification of potential troubled loans.
- Provide a valuable advisory resource throughout the entire organization related to sensitive credit situations and loan workout activities.
- Provide support for the development of loan policies, procedures, strategies and information delivery for Special Assets processes and activities.
- Act to support the primary servicing officers for the Troubled Loan Portfolio activities
- Assist the VP, Special assets to monitor financial performance, establish action plans to correct problem issues, collateral values and conditions and provide continuous diligence to mitigate loss exposure to GC.
- Interacts with Credit & Risk Management officers to work with borrowers to better secure collateral, equity, or other assets of the borrower.
- Evaluates financial information, collateral, legal documentation, and other available information to provide support in developing an aggressive
- Comprehensive workout strategy to ensure optimal loss protection to GC while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Supports the efforts of the Chief Risk Officer and Special Assets Officers to consult with inside/outside legal counsel regarding perfection of collateral as well as necessary legal actions and strategies to protect GC's position.
- Regularly provides reports and communicates findings to the VP Special Assets Officer, Credit & Risk Management, GC credit committee and GC executive committee of individual loans within the special assets loan portfolio and market and economic conditions/trends affecting the portfolio.
- Serve as primary contact for the Banks' Other Real Estate Owned (OREO) property management companies and accountants; handle vendor management approvals, maintain OREO listing agreements and sales contracts.
- Work directly with Special Assets team members to the loan files are updated and complete, Act as gatekeeper of loan approvals and file maintenance.
- Responsible for tracking and assisting as needed in troubled loan workout: foreclosures, bankruptcies, note sales, REO management, REO sales.
- Support the Credit department in communications with servicing and finance regarding troubled loan payoffs, paydowns, recording and submission of 1099A and 1099C documentation
2. Special Assets Credit Analyst Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of five years of progressive relevant Commercial and Residential Real Estate Loan Workout and Credit Risk Management experience in a banking environment
- Experience with complex legal issues and foreclosure laws across multiple states
- Knowledge of bank operations/ systems and compliance/ regulatory issues
- Experience in private money or hard money preferred
- Expert knowledge in complex commercial lending and financial deal structuring
- Expert knowledge of credit underwriting policies, procedures, processes, collateral valuation, and documentation
- Highly Proficient/Advanced in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database application
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Ability to incorporate information from many sources to identify underwriting risks, conduct analysis and articulate a concise recommendation
- Ability to lead and manage multiple tasks concurrently and self-prioritize workload to meet deadlines as an individual and leader
