Reporting to the Project Director, the Chief Investment Officer oversees the execution of the middle office function, producing and substantiating P&L and risk reporting to management while providing supervisory oversight of daily reconciliations, corporate treasury feeds, and market and credit risk controls. Partnering with portfolio managers, financial controllers, market risk, credit risk, technology, and regional middle office teams, this role drives strategic re-engineering projects and delivers tactical and strategic process improvements across front and back-end systems.


Job Functions

  • Produce and substantiate P&L and risk reporting to management.
  • Provide supervisory oversight of the daily P&L and risk process and regional and global management reporting.
  • Provide oversight of daily system-to-system reconciliations.
  • Oversee and monitor various corporate feeds relating to treasury functions.
  • Monitor market risk-related controls, including updating and monitoring risk limits, reporting clean P&L for VaR back testing, and producing various risk reports.
  • Monitor credit risk-related controls, including working in close partnership with credit risk and reporting teams, producing country risk reporting, and monitoring and escalating collateral valuation differences.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives, including active participation in onboarding new products, designing middle office workflows, and providing analysis and advice around booking strategies and operational procedures.
  • Actively run strategic re-engineering and global projects involving front and back-end systems, and closely partner across three regions.
  • Provide support for ad hoc requests and queries from various stakeholders.
  • Review current processes, identify opportunities for improving efficiency and controls, and deliver tactical and strategic solutions.
  • Work in close partnership with market risk, credit risk, business management, trade support, financial controllers, valuation control, technology, and other regional middle office teams to ensure adequate controls on overall P&L and risk.
  • Understand and contribute to various control frameworks, including Control Self Assessment (CSA), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and Business Control Committees.
  • Participate in and contribute to firm-wide initiatives, including global projects on re-engineering risk management and back-office systems.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk, or a related field (CPA, CFA, FRM, or other management qualification desired).
  • 3+ years of experience with top-tier banks in middle office, market risk, valuation, finance, or product control.
  • In-depth understanding of trade life cycle, P&L explanations, and market risk reporting.
  • Derivatives product knowledge with hands-on experience in FX, interest rate, fixed income, and treasury products.
  • Understanding of the transaction cycle, infrastructure, and associated operational and financial processes and controls.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate team members.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and escalate when appropriate.
