CARPENTER JOB DESCRIPTION

Carpenter Roles:

• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
• Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
• Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material according to measurements
• Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items

Carpenter Experience and Knowledge:

Carpenter Duties:

Carpenter Responsibilities:

• Install, repair and replace flooring, partitions, window frames and sash, door frames and doors, screens, fences and other related components of the building and structures.
• Repair movable /fixed wooden office furniture by inspecting/ adjusting/ correcting/ replacing/ replacing defective parts, to keep equipment in good condition.
• Complete rough/ finished carpentry work by following sketches, layouts, chats, to facilitate the construction and maintenance repair of facilities under ACS purview.

Carpenter Knowledge and Experience:

• Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a Carpenter acquired within the last 10 years; or
• Three years of experience as described in “1"" above, plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or vocational high school to make up a total of five years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade or vocational school training.
• The preferred candidate should possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal; the ability to tailor correspondence and communications to audiences with varied technical knowledge/background; must be comfortable with a fast paced, busy environment where workload, priorities and direct change shift on a regular basis and exhibit the ability to excel and prioritize workload/responsibilities within a result-oriented, face-paced work culture.

Carpenter Details:

• Pre-Fab gang forms, install forms and ensure quality control of formwork
• Install forms to footings, retaining walls, interior walls, columns, slabs and stairs

Carpenter Functions:

• Performs work related to commercial construction and maintenance such as wall construction and repair, door hardware installation, electronic access control, demolition, painting, flooring and renovation.

• Provides direction and training to less experienced Maintenance Generalists.

Carpenter Experience and Requirements:

• Ten years’ experience as a skilled carpenter, painter, sheetrock finisher, and/or maintenance technician, or completion of a two year technical degree, trade school or apprenticeship program in carpentry or a related field with five years in commercial construction.
• Requires in-depth knowledge of commercial construction and maintenance fundamentals.
• Must be physically able to perform maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to: climb ladders, lift objects, extend arms to reach overhead, etc.

Carpenter Roles:

Finish Carpenter Responsibilities:

• Construct, erect, install, window and door frames, doors and hardware, toilet partitions and accessories, cabinets, int./ext. trim systems, custom millwork, building frameworks and wood stairways, as well as other types of general trades tasks.
• Measure and mark lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw.
• Understand blueprints, sketches or building plans to determine dimensions and materials required for form, or framing, construction.
• Read and understand hardware schedules.
• Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter’s hand tools, and power tools.
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
• Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, and trim, or hardware, using carpenter’s hand and power tools.

Finish Carpenter Knowledge and Qualìications:

• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures, foundations and framing.

Travel Concrete Carpenter Duties:

• Responsible for demolition, repair, and construction in industrial/commercial environments.* *
• Some worksites are refineries, factories, plants, and commercial buildings/bridges.*
• Use power tools to break down existing concrete structures.
• Cleaning debris from site, setting up framing, saw cutting & drilling rebar.
• Carpenters will be performing stress tests on existing concrete fixtures.

Travel Concrete Carpenter Experience and Requirements:

• 5+ years experience in commercial/industrial concrete carpentry preferred*
• 5+ years' experience in commercial/industrial concrete carpentry preferred.
• 1+ year concrete laborer desired in work environment.
• Concrete cutting, concrete saw, and concrete drilling experience, demolition formwork, finish work, and rough work.
• OSHA 10 & 30 is a plus.

Offshore Insulator/Carpenter Roles:

• Layout and installation of commercial ceiling grid, metal wall studs, sheetrock and insulation from blueprints, drawings, sketches, or from oral or written instruction.
• Construction of custom customer buildout of complex & detailed shipping crates, ordinary plant woodwork, wooden structures/ crates as assigned.
• Installation of office partition assembly from drawings, sketches, or verbal instruction.
• Hang all wall-hung fixtures, such as, but not limited to, signs, pictures, mirrors, and similar items on wood or sheetrock.
• Repairs and/or builds, from sketches, blueprints, and oral or written instructions.
• Uses and cares for all common power and hand tools making, as required, machine setups such as installation of prefabricated systems and molding and mortising fixtures Generally works to tolerances of 1/32 inches.
• Installation and drilling of passage sets, locks and key coring of door slab (with the exception of specialty locks), and mechanical panic hardware (i.e. crash bar).
• Installation and removal of ceiling gridwork and ceiling components.

Offshore Insulator/Carpenter Qualifications:

• Ability to work off a ladder, scaffolding, or lift.
• Notifies supervision when major and extensive repairs or modifications are necessary.

• Performs other related/similar duties as required or directed.

• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Carpenter & Joiner Duties:

• Carry out joinery work to include repairing of doors, windows, signposts, formwork and other bespoke timber items.
• Measure and quote for works.

Carpenter Duties:

• Thorough knowledge of wood and wood substitute materials and construction techniques.
• CPR and OSHA preferred, however training will be provided.
• Skilled in the operation of general and precision carpentry and woodworking equipment, and can produce finished items with precise fits, accurate dimension, and acceptable appearance.
• Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.

• Will use hand & power tools to layout, measure, mark, cut and arrange material
• Performs rough to finished carpentry work on buildings, office partitions, benches, scaffolding, framework, platforms, and trim.
• Operates woodworking tools such as electrical saws, routers, drills, planers, lathes, jointers, molders, borers and sanders.
• Makes shop computations relating to dimensions of work and selects necessary materials
• Dry wall install and repair

Carpenter Qualifications:

• A knowledge in concrete and finish concrete is preferred but not required
• Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance history experience.
• Ability to read prints and construction drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturers manuals and instructions.
• Must have 4+ years’ experience
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• Good aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Good reading comprehension.
• Ability to work with others – team player.
• Ability to work independently – minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.

• Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.

• Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
• May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
• Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms. Will work at heights up to 300’ utilizing proper fall protection.
• Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
• Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
