Collaborating with consultants, faculty, staff, management, and technical teams including DBAs and server administrators, this role advances campus-wide data governance and enables effective use of institutional data to foster student success.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain existing and new data models that form the foundation for accurate and timely reporting across the university.
• Create ETL scripts to move data from source systems into the Business Intelligence reporting environment and develop and maintain appropriate processing schedules.
• Perform data validation and sanitation to ensure quality, accuracy and relevance of the BI Architecture.

Background and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Five years of relevant full-time experience in business intelligence, preferably in a higher education environment.
• Knowledge of data warehouse and business intelligence tools, best practices, and dimensional data modeling.
• Demonstrated competence in relational databases and structured programming design with the ability to write and edit SQL queries.

BI Architect guides Supply Chain transformation by developing and standardizing analytical tools, frameworks, and dashboards that democratize data-driven decision making at all levels of the business, including through process automation using SAP Scripts, RPA, and Excel VBA. Collaborating with senior VP and Director-level leadership across Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Global Marketing, this role synthesizes large volumes of data into findings and recommendations that identify savings opportunities and drive strategic outcomes.

Executive Functions

• Work with senior leadership to derive Supply Chain transformation through innovative analytics and draft project plans for stakeholder feedback and approval.

Scope of Work

• Rich experience designing and building Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Models, Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
• Experience with Master Data Management, Data Governance and Enterprise Information Management.
• Expert knowledge of Azure tools and services centered around data and analytics including Data Lake, Data Factory, Azure Databricks and Azure SQL.
• Excellent understanding of Microsoft Power BI and other Microsoft BI platforms including SSRS, SSAS and SSIS.
• Experience designing and building complete ETL processes moving and transforming data from ODS, Staging and Data Warehousing environments.
• Data security expertise at macro and micro levels including platform, row-level and encryption.

The BI Architect creates and maintains the cloud data warehouse architecture and its development roadmap while leading the BI team through the full development lifecycle of self-serve analytical solutions built on Snowflake, AWS, and Azure. Collaborating with Senior and Mid-Level Management, developers, architects, and business users, this role oversees all BI cloud tools and assets to align business process strategies with current and planned technology architecture.

Key Deliverables

• Lead BI team through the full development lifecycle including discovery, framing, design, develop, test, release and support of a self-serve analytical solution for business users.
• Provide leadership in the evaluation of cloud-based BI Application Development Tools, Techniques and Approaches and manage overall implementation.

BI Architect builds and governs enterprise Power BI Premium environments by conducting customer workshops, creating data ingestion frameworks with PowerQuery, and implementing ALM frameworks, alert patterns, and tuning best practices for Gateways and gateway clusters. The work directly supports client organizations and analytics teams who depend on well-architected, high-performing Power BI solutions to deliver reliable and scalable data insights.

Engineering Responsibilities

• Conduct customer workshops to identify requirements and bring architecture design for data analytics projects within Power BI setups and environments.
• Set up Power BI Center of Excellence and create data ingestion frameworks with dataflows using PowerQuery online.
• Integrate data from different data sources and review architecture design patterns for Power BI.
• Define an ALM framework for Power BI projects.
• Set up alert and monitoring patterns for Power BI Premium environments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Production-level experience working in an Enterprise Power BI Premium architecture.
• Proficient with PowerQuery and query tuning and proficient with DAX and improving performance and tuning measures.
• Power BI Premium Administration experience or experience setting up an Administration role for Power BI Premium environments.
• Familiarity with agile software delivery methodologies such as Scrum.
