• Appropriate qualification - HNC/HND level for Technicians or a Degree in Architectural Technology BSc(Hons)
• CIAT membership highly desirable

Senior Architectural Technologist oversees technical drawings and working drawing production through all RIBA work stages for large, complex projects in Newcastle. The work directly supports efficient project delivery, mentoring of junior technical staff, and strong relationships with colleagues, clients, contractors, and Local Authorities.

Work Activities

• Provide high-quality technical drawings and supporting technical information
• Manage projects, ensuring efficient delivery of the brief within agreed deadlines
• Work to building regulations and adhere to current legislation
• Manage the production of working drawings using 2D and 3D software
• Arrange project reviews and assist with technical issues as they arise
• Assist with mentoring junior members of the technical team

Requirements

• HNC/HND/Degree in a related discipline, or demonstrate significant relevant experience
• Proven record of delivering medium/large projects
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp (training available)
• Able to manage workload effectively, make clear decisions, and meet tight deadlines
• Demonstrates evidence of building and maintaining working relationships with clients, contractors, team members, colleagues, and third parties

The Architectural Technologist coordinates AutoCAD and Revit drawings that support architectural design for new residential mid-rise buildings. Reporting to the project architect, the technologist works closely with the construction team to resolve design issues in real time and keep new product options moving forward.

Performance Expectations

• Contribute to the architectural design of new buildings

Experience & Qualifications

• Ideally holds a technical diploma in architecture

• Strong English written and spoken skills are essential; French skills are an asset

Reporting to the project lead, the Architectural Technologist executes statutory applications, tender packages, and site inspections to keep Irish building and planning compliance on track. Partnering with consultants and clients, the technologist signs off design packages and compiles compliance submissions across steel, timber frame, and window systems.
