Analytics Lead Job Description Template
1. About the Role
An Analytics Lead who cannot translate product funnel data into a clear strategic recommendation leaves product owners making expensive decisions without evidence. That gap is exactly what this role closes. The Analytics Lead owns the quantitative agenda for one or more digital product lines, setting success metrics, evaluating user behavior across acquisition and retention stages, and presenting findings to stakeholders from engineering squads up to executive leadership. Few roles demand equal fluency in SQL-level data work and board-ready storytelling.
2. Position Summary
As the Analytics Lead, you define the measurement framework that determines whether digital products grow or stall, turning behavioral data and funnel analysis into decisions that product and commercial teams can act on. You operate across product management, engineering, data science, and design organizations, with scope that spans individual feature evaluation through business-line strategy.
3. Why Join Us
Career Impact: Owning the strategic analytic agenda across multiple product lines positions you as the authority on what user behavior signals mean for commercial direction, a profile that carries weight when moving into Analytics Director or Head of Data roles.
Business Impact: The product and commercial decisions this role informs directly affect advertiser acquisition rates, SMB retention, and conversion performance, outcomes measured in revenue, not just dashboards.
Growth Opportunity: Sustained exposure to A/B testing at scale, predictive modeling, and cross-functional leadership expands both your technical depth and your ability to influence without authority, skills that open doors to senior individual contributor and people-management tracks alike.

- Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels, translating complex analyses into decisions product and commercial teams can act on.
- Lead and mentor a team of analysts, setting standards for analytical rigor and prioritizing work against commercial drivers.
- Partner with data engineering and data science teams to ensure data infrastructure supports advanced analytical requirements.
5. Required Qualifications

6. Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of statistical programming languages such as Python or R, applied to predictive modeling or data pipeline automation.
- Experience working in a matrix organization and influencing product or commercial decisions without direct reporting authority.
- Familiarity with data governance practices and the responsible development of analytics applications in regulated or privacy-sensitive environments.
- Prior experience supporting SMB advertiser analytics or digital acquisition funnel analysis at meaningful scale.
7. Success Metrics and Environment
- Strategic analytic agenda coverage, measured by the share of product decisions backed by a documented analytical brief.
- A/B test velocity, reflecting the number of experiments designed, executed, and concluded per quarter.
