Analytics Architect designs and develops data models, dashboards, and analytic reporting solutions that serve self-service data consumption needs across the organization, supporting the broader data strategy and vision. Success in the position means delivering optimal ETL and ELT solutions, maintaining BI platform content, and partnering with internal customers to ensure underlying data structures meet evolving reporting requirements.

Operational Focus

• Design and develop data solutions to meet reporting and self-service data consumption needs including data models, views, dashboards, and interactive visualizations.
• Partner with internal customers to identify business needs and develop understanding of underlying data to meet reporting requirements.
• Develop optimal ETL and ELT solutions including extracts and live connections for the BI environment.
• Manage content within the BI platform and participate in production support, regular maintenance routines, and upgrade activities.
• Support the organization's data strategy and vision.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Advanced experience designing and developing content in a BI platform, with Tableau or Power BI strongly preferred.
• Advanced SQL skills with Microsoft SQL Server and experience with dbt view development.
• Snowflake and Azure Data Lake experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in relational data modeling and architecture balancing data reliability, quality, efficiency, availability, and performance.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehouse concepts and modern cloud-based data management tools and practices.
• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and customer service orientation.
• Relocation to Des Moines, IA required.

The Cloud Analytics Architect strengthens enterprise reporting and analytics architecture across Canada by designing and reviewing data pipelines and providing technical thought leadership on emerging Big Data and Analytics technologies. Collaborating with Canada Technology leadership, US counterparts, and cross-functional business stakeholders, the Cloud Analytics Architect drives analytics opportunities, mentors teams at all levels, and ensures architectural and security best practices across the full technology stack.

Job Functions

• Design, develop, and review data pipelines and provide implementation support to the team.
• Provide technical thought leadership and solution expertise around emerging Big Data and Analytics technologies.
• Proactively recommend improvements in the data and analytics space to address systemic pain points and technical debt.
• Provide architectural and security guidance and support to technology stacks related to reporting, big data, and analytics.
• Mentor teams at all levels and foster an innovative environment where technical excellence and reliability are nurtured.
• Conduct industry research to identify trends, evaluate new methodologies and tools, and drive and prioritize analytics opportunities with stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications

• BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of work-related experience with 5+ years in data and application architecture design and development.
• Expert in cloud platforms, preferably Google BigQuery, CloudSQL, Dataflow, Pubsub, Composer, Dataproc, Bigtable, and other GCP technologies.
• Hands-on Java, Go, Python, and SQL development experience with the ability to error test, identify root cause, and remediate to ensure code quality.
• Experience with Enterprise-class analytics stacks including Data Warehouse Platforms, Big Data Platforms, and Reporting Technologies.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Looker and Tableau, data caching, cube design, and OLAP tools.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to present to diverse audiences across business and technology.
• Retail experience preferred and SAP technologies experience considered an asset.
